What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a feeling of fear, apprehension, and worry triggered by the stress and pressure of environmental, cognitive, and social factors in daily life. Examples of stress and pressure trigger anxiety include exams, job interviews, and the need to meet deadlines. Anxiety involves apprehension and fear of uncertainty. It causes physical and emotional symptoms such as increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, altered breathing patterns, and cold sweats.

Anxiety typically occurs due to an imbalance in certain naturally occurring chemicals in the brain. Genetic factors, stress, chronic illnesses, drug use, and environmental factors contribute to the development of anxiety. Traumatic events, particularly those experienced in childhood, can sensitize the brain's fear-processing mechanisms, making individuals more sensitive to stressors, paving the way for future anxiety.

Common treatment methods for anxiety disorder, which puts the person in a tense state, include medication, psychotherapy, and dialectical behavior therapy, if necessary.

WHAT CAUSES ANXIETY PROBLEM?

While the exact cause of anxiety disorder, like many mental disorders, is not fully understood, generalized anxiety disorder is caused by an imbalance in certain naturally occurring chemicals in the brain. These chemicals are known as serotonin and norepinephrine, known as neurotransmitters. Changes in brain chemicals, genetics, stress, chronic diseases (such as diabetes, heart disease, and COPD), medications, harmful substances such as narcotics, and environmental factors are among the causes of anxiety.

Pay attention to childhood

Traumatic events, particularly experienced during childhood, can sensitize the brain's fear-processing mechanisms, leading to increased sensitivity to stressors. According to research on anxiety, both environmental and genetic factors play a role in childhood anxiety disorders. If even one of the anxiety disorder symptoms listed above is present in a child, it's beneficial to seek professional support without delay. To achieve this, you can take steps to treat your anxiety disorder through an online psychologist and receive professional support.
