WHAT IS A SLEEPING PROBLEM?
Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling or staying asleep, often due to waking up frequently or waking up too early and not being able to return to sleep. Insomnia can be short-term (acute) or chronic.
Insomnia is divided into three categories according to its duration; if the insomnia complaint lasts no longer than a week, it is acute or transient; if this period is between one week and three months, it is subacute; if the insomnia complaint lasts more than three months, it is chronic insomnia.
Insomnia, a common condition worldwide, affects people of all ages and genders. While the causes vary depending on the individual, insomnia is often caused by factors such as constantly changing bedtimes, eating before bed, stress-related depression, and alcohol use.
Insomnia can cause various problems in one's social and professional life, and individuals with insomnia experience a feeling of unease, both mentally and physically. This feeling is a psychological reflection of sleep deprivation.
Difficulty falling asleep at night, frequent sleep interruptions, waking up early in the morning, decreased energy due to lack of sleep during the day, and an aggressive and tense personality are among the common symptoms of insomnia.
Insomnia usually improves with changes in sleep patterns, but if there is a medical condition underlying the insomnia, medication may be recommended.
