WHAT IS FIBROMYALGIA?
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by stiffness, pain, and tenderness in muscles and associated connective tissue structures, which also causes fatigue, headaches, and sleep disturbances. Body pain is the most common consequence of fibromyalgia. If left untreated, it can lead to a decrease in quality of life and loss of employment.
People with fibromyalgia may experience symptoms that come and go. This can be challenging. Certain health conditions, stress, and other life changes can trigger the condition. If one parent has fibromyalgia, the likelihood of developing it is particularly high.
Fibromyalgia, the second most common rheumatic disease, is three times more common in women than in men.

What Causes Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain, along with fatigue and sleep problems. Fibromyalgia, which causes increased sensitivity to pain, is caused by abnormal levels of certain chemicals in the brain and changes in the way the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) processes pain messages carried throughout the body. It is triggered by physical and emotional stress.
